How often do I need to update my will?

You can choose to review or update your will at any time but our recommendation is that you do so from time to time or when a significant life event occurs. The following are some examples of significant life events that you should keep in mind:

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Starting or ending a de-facto relationship
  • The birth of children
  • Your chosen executor is seriously ill or has died
  • Your spouse or de-facto partner has died
  • A beneficiary named in your will has died
  • Purchase and sale of assets that you wish to be listed in your will

Remember, the last valid will you sign is the one that applies on your death so it is important that your will is always up-to-date and reflects your current wishes.
